The Clinical Distribution organization is dedicated to cost-effectively ensuring that the right product is in the right place at the right time—every time—guaranteeing that no patient goes without treatment and no clinical trial is delayed. Operating within an agile organizational structure, the global Network & Capabilities Chapter is jointly accountable for all elements of clinical supply chain distribution across the global Roche/Genentech portfolio of over 500 clinical studies.
This team establishes and maintains the logistics framework required to enable optimized, highly reliable distribution—encompassing more than 100,000 shipments annually across 130+ countries—by leveraging industry-leading clinical distribution strategies, processes, and systems. The Senior Network & Capabilities Manager plays a key role in managing a distribution network of over 23 warehouses and depots, overseeing an annual spend exceeding CHF 50 million, and driving organizational readiness toward our North Star: Delivering to all patients worldwide within one day, CO2 neutral.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- You are responsible for overseeing and optimizing the distribution network (>100k shipments per year) to enable timely, reliable and efficient delivery for all global Roche/Genentech clinical trials. Therefore you partner closely with internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality), customers (Clinical Operations) and external partners (3PLs, LSPs, etc.)
- You contribute and execute the network & capabilities chapter strategy, aligning with the overall distribution strategy. This incl. future network and capability readiness, build up of new locations, and a strong emphasis on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).
- You oversee, manage and optimize distribution costs and spend (>50m CHF/year).
- You drive best practices, standardization, and optimization of distribution network processes in collaboration with Business Capability Leads (BCLs), QA ensuring supply chain reliability.
- You co-create and execute objectives for the global network & capabilities chapter, enabling continuous improvements and cultural transition towards a self-managed team and organization.
- You ensure the overall compliance of the distribution network according to GxP and GCP standards.
Must Haves:
- You hold a degree (BA, MS, MBA) in a technical, business, or supply chain field or possess relevant experience; certifications like APICS, SCOR, Operational Excellence, Six Sigma, or Lean training are a plus.
- You have a strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain management, including warehouse and transportation management, logistics, and regulatory requirements for clinical trials.
- You bring relevant GXP experience
- You possess excellent knowledge of clinical supply chain distribution processes, Supplier Relationship management incl. negotiations & industry best practices, and the tools and systems needed to enable operational excellence.
- You act as an architect and catalyst in the distribution organization, taking smart risks and streamlining or stopping non-value-adding work.
- You bring excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and convey key messages effectively to senior leadership.
- You have (min. 6 years) 10+ years of operational experience in supply chain, distribution, planning, and/or manufacturing, with significant expertise in clinical supply chain (distribution) management.
