R5047603 Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling (BKM) (f/m/d) (Open)

You design, develop, and improve the tools and fixtures that keep precision turbine manufacturing running. Based at GE Vernova's production site in Birr, you will be part of the Betriebsmittelkonstruktion (BMK) team — a specialist group responsible for the full lifecycle of production tooling, measuring equipment, and manufacturing resources for gas turbines, steam turbines, and generator rotors.

This is a hands-on engineering role where your work directly enables the production floor.

What you will do

• Design and develop specialized tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment for turbine and generator rotor manufacturing
• Define and optimize machining strategies, tooling concepts, and measurement approaches in close collaboration with production and engineering teams
• Manage procurement activities end-to-end — from supplier quotes and cost comparisons to technical drawing reviews
• Ensure the on-time availability of all required production resources, whether manufactured internally or sourced externally
• Monitor tool performance, consumption, and costs, driving corrective actions and continuous design improvements
• Maintain TDM (Tool Data Management) tool lists and related master data in SAP

What you bring

Required

• Technical qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering — a Swiss Higher Technical School (Höhere Fachschule, HF) diploma or equivalent is ideal
• Proven experience in the design of production tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment
• Solid knowledge of machining processes, tooling concepts, and measurement strategies
• Proficiency in SAP and TDM or a comparable tool data management system
• Fluent German and good English, written and spoken

Preferred

• Experience with tooling or fixture design for turbines, compressors, or other large rotating equipment
• Background in procurement coordination with technical suppliers
